American Biological Medicine™ - A New Healthcare Solution

Originally published at: http://www.qondio.com/american-biological-medicine-a-new-healthcare-solution by David Jernigan of Hansa Center for Optimum Health

American Biological Medicine is based upon a relatively new philosophy within what is generically termed Alternative Medicine. This new philosophy is called Biological Medicine. Biological Medicine recognizes that all aspects of the body, mind, and spirit must be addressed and brought into optimal integrity before lasting health can be achieved.

Unlike other body/mind/spirit philosophies of the healing arts, American Biological Medicine is unique in that it is able to utilize the highly scientific, adjunctive diagnostic and treatment technique, Bio-Resonance Scanning™ (BRS), as well as conventional tests and the ancient healing arts of observation and intuition, to rapidly and accurately determine where interferences exist within the body, mind, or spirit. BRS helps to greatly diminish the educated “guesswork” of doctoring. BRS can be used to flow dynamically, in real-time, from interference-diagnostics to treatment selection and its correct application.

The reason it is important to discuss Biological Medicine and Bio-Resonance Scanning™ here is so that it can be appreciated as not promoting more “Drug-induced illusions of health, nor is promoting another “cookbook” solution to healing from any illness.

Cookbook healing means that, once diagnosed, the person is put on a standard “recipe” that is supposed to heal everyone. The reality is that as different as each of us look from one another on the outside, we are all just as unique on the inside.

For instance, it is now known that the supposed benefits of taking aspirin daily for the heart only works for about one third of people. Two thirds of the people taking aspirin for this purpose are getting no benefit because their body digests aspirin differently than the one third. (The natural supplement Nattokinase, a systemic proteolytic enzyme, works better than aspirin and is effective in over 95% of people.)

The reality of medicine and healing is that the world’s most astute and celebrated physicians cannot heal even the simplest paper cut, much less a complex illnesses plaguing society today.

Giving the body allopathic (symptom-relieving) prescription medicines or allopathically-oriented natural remedies and supplements that do not work synergistically with the body, but seek instead to bomb bacteria/viruses, or suppress a symptom, might as well be magic!

These medicines create only the drug-induced illusion of health. The reality underneath the illusion is that the illness is still there, evidenced by the fact that if you remove the medicine, all the symptoms return. Roughly 80% of western medicine simply enables you to die faster without feeling it.

If the physician cannot actually heal anything, and forcing the body into drug-induced illusions of health does not heal anything, then the focus of all health-related efforts must be to identify everything interfering with the optimal function and integrity of the body and then provide the body with the corrective/restorative treatments that will work to enable the body to heal itself.

Ultimately, healing is achieved by facilitating the body, mind, and spirit with:

Corrective information.

Restoring the transmission and reception of bio-information.

Providing the building blocks needed to restore optimal function and integrity.

The removal of structural, chemical, stress-related, and electromagnetic interferences to the normal structure and function of the body.

Replacing “disease mentality, and negative thought and emotional patterns with sustained, powerful DNA transforming thoughts and emotional patterns.

Restoring the integrity within the interdependent and interconnected body, mind, and spirit.

The Pressing Issue Of Acne For Women Over 50

Acne in women over 50 has really become a major concern for mature beauties. Generally, reaching the age of an adult woman usually signals the departure from a problem associated with the teenage girl phase, specifically acne. It is a condition typical of teenage girls, but it is also a dilemma for some adult and mature women. When dealing with other people, women over 50 suffering from acne may feel embarrassment and self-consciousness. Stress, anxiety and low self-esteem can further worsen the condition.

Acne can be a constant battle for some women, usually commencing during the adolescent stage. Women who have been grappling with acne in the puberty stage may continue struggling with the ailment even in adulthood, and over 50. This is referred to as chronic acne. However, there are instances of acne affliction starting in the adult woman years.

In senior or mature women, blackheads will often indicate the onset of acne. These blackheads, which crop up when grime and dead skin cells are collected on the pores of the skin, clog the sebaceous glands and bring in bacteria. Upon contact with the air, these buildups become black in color. They then expand, become red in reaction to bacteria and develop into pimples. If infected with anything dirty, these skin irritations turn into pustules or whiteheads. The pimples are most often found on the neck, chest and back areas.

One particular form of acne in women over 50 is Rosacea. This type of acne can cause breakouts and redness as blood vessels form on the skin. When infected, a rash develops on the face. Rosacea usually hits women between 40 and 60.

Some common culprits for the development of acne are stress and anxiety, using low-grade makeup, and hormonal activity. Unnecessary stress often leads to increased production of sebum. Using cheap cosmetics can likewise result in infections. A certain hormone in women, specifically androgen, may give off an uncharacteristic discharge that can cause the abscess to break out. For some women who are still fertile, birth control medications, which contain the hormone androgen, raise the level of the hormones and can lead to acne. Even though it is a widespread belief, eating chocolate and cheese does not lead to the occurrence of acne.

Acne in sexy senior and mature women can be pinned down on hereditary issues and lax personal hygiene. It is a widespread concept that genetic factors influence a person's likelihood of developing pustules. Most prone to developing acne are families with oily skin. Another potential reason is poor hygiene. When too much oil is hoarded up on the skin, clogging of pores occurs, which definitely is a major contributor to acne. In general, maintaining cleanliness of the body is obligatory to avoid acne invasion.

Over-the-counter medications and other therapies are available to relieve acne. To be sure, getting help and expert advice from dermatologists won't hurt.

The key to avoiding acne in women over 50 lies within oneself. If a woman possesses the discipline to keep her body clean at all times, there probably won't be a need to resort to other artificial treatments. Watching one's regular diet, religiously cleaning the face and body, avoiding antioxidants, and using only mild cleansing creams or liquids targeted to mature women acne are few of the ways that help to reduce the incidence of acne suffering.

Rarely Revealed Health Tips For People Over 50

Welcome back to more great tips. These are health tips rarely revealed for people over 50... or any other age group as far as that matters. I bet you never thought about these or so much as knew about them. Sit back, relax, and learn what most others will not share with you.

1. When you feel the need to take aspirin for whatever reason... dissolve your aspirin tables in a glass of juice, milk, or water first. The reason being is that you will speed up the process of the aspirin absorption and avoid that burning sensation you often get in your stomach when taking aspirin tablets.

2. If you suffer from arthritis and often wake up with painful and stiff hands... try wearing elastic (spandex) gloves to bed nightly. What this does is it prevents the synovial fluid from pooling in your hands while you sleep.

3. Using artificial sweeteners will not help you lose fat because whenever you eat something that tastes sweet, your brain still perceives it as sugar and releases insulin... whose job is to lower excess sugar levels in the bloodstream. This reaction then causes your body to go into a fat storing mode.

4. I know this is probably just the opposite of what most people have been taught, but in order to speed up the healing process of scraped skin... the real secret is to keep the area moist, not to allow it to remain open to the air (the air around you contaions many germs and bacteria). What you need to do is clean the wound thoroughly, put some type of antibiotic ointment or plain vaseline (petroleum jelly) on the wound, and cover it with a bandage. Nt only will this speed up the healing process, but you'll also experience less scarring doing it like this.

There you have it... four great rarely revealed health tips for people over 50.

The Chocolate, Cinnamon, Ginger, and Honey Sex Muffins Recipe

Hi all. It's been a month since I've taken the time to post here, but I'm back once again with another great health tip for men and women over 50 which you will greatly enjoy. However, what I am about to share with you will benefit other age groups also. It was difficult deciding on an appropiate title for this post before settling on the chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, honey sex muffins recipe... as I will explain below, so keep reading.

You see, many times before I write a post, I do a little research to see what folks are interested in learning. In this particular case, I saw that folks were interested in learning how to make many different kinds of muffins such as chocolate, banana, blueberry, cinnamon, ginger, honey, and others. I discovered this recipe many years ago and since it contained four of the main ingredients people were looking for... hence, my title as you see above.

Through time, men and women have believed that certain foods and potions called aphrodisiacs possess the power to enhance their romantic appetites and relationships. Even today, with the advancements made, there is still the continued interest in foods, herbs, pills, and tonics that will give people added stamina and sexual performance. However, there has been an increasing shift back towards natural and organic substances, and this recipe fits into that category.

These delicious sex muffins are easily prepared and made from ordinary inexpensive ingredients which are found in your local grocery and health food stores. So, without further ado, let's get to cooking.

Ingredients you are going to need...

2 Teaspoons of baking powder

1 Teaspoon of ginger

2 Ounces of semi sweet chocolate

3/4 Cup of all purpose flour

1 Teaspoon of cinnamon

1/2 Stick of butter or margarine

1 Cup of milk

2 Slightly beaten egg whites

1/3 Cup of honey

15 Capsules of Korean or Siberian Ginseng

Ready? Okay, now mix your baking powder, flour, cinnamon, and the contents of the 15 ginseng capsules together in a bowl.

Slowly melt the chocolate and butter or margarine together in top of double boiler while stirring the mixture until it is smooth.

Add the melted chocolate mixture to the mixture in the bowl along with the honey, milk, and egg whites. Stir it all together just enough to blend it.

Pour your mixture into a slightly greased or oiled muffin tin or pan and bake in preheated oven set at 400 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes... or until they are browned. Allow the muffins to cool about two minute before removing them from the pan or tin.

And there you are! Now enjoy your chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, and honey sex muffins, but never eat them alone... for obvious libido lifting reasons.

Until next time, stay safe and healthy. I'll see you again on the 17th when I'll tell you four great rarely revealed health tips for people over 50. You don't want to miss these, so bookmark this site so you can easily return!

What Baby Boomers And Seniors Should Know About Parasites

Parasites, even though you may be over 50, just how familiar are you with these pesky little creatures? Though often thought to be an issue more in underdeveloped countries, parasitic infestation in people living in developed countries is thought to affect 85, possibly up to 95, percent of the population.

By definition a parasite is an organism that lives in or on another organism where it obtains benefits from the host but usually causes injury to it.

In humans, especially in seniors, baby boomers, and men and women over 50... parasites can range in size from a single-celled organism to a tapeworm that can reach up to 12 meters in length.

The side-effects of parasitic infestation can be vast and often the symptoms are thought to be related to other diseases, rather than associated with the parasites. Symptoms can include, but not limited, to any of the following:

* diarrhea and/or constipation
* gas, bloating, and cramps
* itching around the nose, ears and anus, especially at night
* persistent skin problems
* excessive nose picking
* dark circles under the eyes
* grinding teeth at night
* lack of energy
* disturbed sleep
* muscle cramps or joint pain
* immune system fatigue
* post-nasal drip
* flu-like symptoms
* anemia
* food allergies
* trouble losing or gaining weight
* rumbling and gurgling in the stomach are unrelated to hunger or eating
* bloating
* intestinal obstruction
* nausea and/or vomiting
* sore mouth and gums
* headaches
* memory loss
* depression

As everyone is unique, the effect of the parasite in one person can be completely different than that of another, where some become extremely ill, while others experience no symptoms at all.

Since parasites are rampant in the environment, contacting them happens quite easily. Avenues include:

* household pets
* inhaling contaminated dust
* drinking contaminated water
* handling raw meat and fish
* ingesting undercooked meat and fish
* contaminated fruit and vegetables
* transfer from humans to foods that are ingested
* animal and human feces
* improper hand-washing hygiene practices

Parasites can have a negative effect on the body in quite a few ways. First is on the tissue that they are preying upon. Once damaged the body has to repair the cells. If the damage happens at a rate faster than the body is able to repair, issues will develop.

If parasites enter the bloodstream they can travel to any organ of the body. It is often the problems that they cause here that are misdiagnosed and therefore prescribed treatment tends to be of no benefit.

The body is further challenged by the parasites from the toxins that they expel. These waste products poison our systems causing elimination organs to have to work overtime and can thus tend to immune systems becoming fatigued or weakened. They are nasty little critters.

There are precautions that you as a baby boomer or senior can take to help limit the likelihood of becoming infested. These include things like:

Always wash your hands thoroughly after having been outside, handling raw meat or fish, dealing with pet feces, going to the bathroom, changing diapers, etc. And teach your children and grand children this practice as well, especially if they have been playing outdoors in the dirt or sand.

Drink purified water. Though most towns and cities have systems in place to treat their water, they are not foolproof. It's best to play it safe and have your own purification system that is in place and maintained as per the manufacturer's recommendations.

Diet plays a big role as well, especially when you're in the over 50 crowd. The healthier your internal systems are, especially your intestinal tract, the less likely the parasites will be able to survive. To assist the body in having a top-notch intestinal tract, stay away from high-processed, high-sugar foods. Candida and parasites tend to exist together and thrive on sugar.

Eat foods that have anti-parasitic properties. These include garlic, onion, sage, thyme, pumpkin seeds, foods rich in Vitamin A such as yams, carrots, squash and green vegetables, as Vitamin A seems to be the best at helping the tissue resist parasites trying to embed their larvae.

To help transport the Vitamin A and lubricate the intestinal tract, it is advised to have one to two tablespoons a day of cold-pressed safflower, sesame or flax seed oil.

Wash your fruits and vegetables with a detergent that is safe to ingest, but that is able to kill parasites and their larvae.

If you discover that you are plagued with a parasitic infection, or for general protection against them, contact your local health food store and look for a product that contains some of the following ingredients:

* black walnut extract
* grapefruit seed extract
* wormwood extract
* cayenne
* garlic
* pumpkin seed
* cloves
* rosemary leaf and seed
* thyme leaf and seed
* cranberry juice extract
* slippery elm
* bromelain
* marshmallow root
* pau d'arco
* echinacea
* barberry
* milk thistle fruit

Due to the life cycle of the parasites and their larvae, the cleanse must be consumed long enough to kill them completely. Read the manufacturer's directions. Some may direct you to consume the product for a period of time, stop for a few days and then continue. Others may require you to consume the product for three cycles of the moon. Others may have a more simplified regimen.

One thing is for certain, the sooner you get rid of these uninvited guests, the better you will look and feel. So take action now to have a healthier you in your senior years.

People Over 50 Need To Understand Scalp Acne Causes And Treatment

Being over 50, you and just about everyone knows what acne is and that it commonly breaks out on the face, chest, arms and on the back. Acne also appears on other parts of the body as well, but unless you're someone with acne in one of these "other" areas, you may not have realized this.

If you think about what acne is - a skin condition - it makes sense then that acne can appear almost anywhere on the body. One area in particular that is not often associated with acne is the scalp.

Scalp acne, the mildest form of which is also known as scalp folliculitis, probably occurs more frequently than most people even realize. This form of acne is most often triggered during times of high stress. This irritating scalp condition usually develops whenever the scalp becomes oiler than usual, such as when the hair isn't washed frequently or when hair care products that contain a considerable amount of oil are used.

Scalp acne is very itchy and that makes it difficult for those who have it to leave it alone. In it's mildest form, the pustules are small, crusty, and they get very sore. They appear mainly on the upper forehead at the hairline. A person can have just a few pustules or there can be many.

A more severe form of scalp acne called acne necrotixa miliaris is characterized by inflamed larger papules with black-colored crusts. This form of acne can leave behind scars that resemble those resulting from Chicken Pox.

There is an even more severe form of scalp acne that primarily affects African-American men but can actually affect anybody, regardless of race or gender. This extremely rare condition is a combination of large cysts and smaller pustules and papules that grow to be very large.

Treatment for Scalp Acne

The mild form of scalp acne can be treated the way most other acne is treated. Keep the affected area clean by using a product that contains salicylic acid. Please remember though that these products can and usually do cause excessive dryness. So be sure to use the product on the affected areas only. For better control apply using a Q-Tip or cotton ball.

Since oily hair is a contributing factor to scalp acne, using shampoo that is formulated for oily hair and scalp is another good option. Hair care products designed especially to treat seborrhea have also been used successfully. And since many people, especially those over 50, use more than just shampoo on their hair, its a good idea to check the labels on all hair care products and make changes as necessary.

What Not To Do When Treating Scalp Acne

One thing that should not be used to treat scalp acne is any product that contains benzoyl peroxide. The peroxide, when it comes into contact with hair can change the color of the hair and result in a less-than-desirable look. Those who have chemically-textured their hair are most prone to hair trouble when benzoyl peroxide is used.

Never attempt to treat the more severe forms of scalp acne without first speaking to a doctor or a dermatologist.

Foods To Reduce High Blood Pressure When You're Over 50

When you're over 50 and you've been diagnosed with high blood pressure, it goes without saying that changes need to be made to your eating habits to improve the situation. Sure some medication may help, but watching what you eat will make a bigger difference to your health, and it will do it naturally, rather than with high cost prescription drugs with known and unknown side effects.

The leading advice given to high blood pressure sufferers, especially those over 50... is to cut down the salt intake. Foods that you need to avoid include fast foods, fried foods, oily foods, frozen dinners, canned vegetables, pickled foods, instant noodles, processed foods, bouillon cubes, steak sauce, barbecue sauce and more. Yes, I know it can get quite depressing if you just focus on what you cannot eat. However, what I'm about to share with you here is that it is better to have a positive approach instead by focusing on what you can and should eat.

So, right here, I am going to share with you are 5 kinds of foods that will help you fight your high blood pressure woes. Ready? Okay, here they are!

#1 is Garlic

You can add fresh cloves of garlic or garlic powder to your cooking or you can take garlic supplements. Garlic helps lower blood pressure because it contains components and compounds that can dilate your arteries. What this means is that your blood vessels open wider, which means your blood is able to flow easier. There have been several studies done to investigate if garlic really does help lower blood pressure. As a matter of fact, the University of Adelaide in South Australia did a review on 11 studies that involved garlic supplements. They concluded that garlic supplements can successfully lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure when taken on a regular basis. However, do not expect that eating garlic by itself will make your blood problem go away. It is only an aid and not the entire solution. Also, the fact that it is a blood thinner makes it unsuitable for certain people over the age of 50.

#2 is Celery

Yep, that's right. You see, celery is an old Chinese remedy to lower blood pressure. The University of Chicago Medical Center did some research on it and found that phtalide (3nb), a compound found in celery, helps improve blood flow. Also, it is very interesting how the research came about. For one week, the father of one of the researchers consumed about 4 stalks of celery everyday. As a result, his blood pressure dropped from 158/96 to 118/82. Amazing isn't it?
There are several ways to add celery to your diet. You can use it as an ingredient in your soups. You can also eat celery sticks as a snack or juice it along with tomatoes or carrots.

#3 is Tomatoes

Why? Because the lycopene found in tomatoes effectively lowers blood pressure! This is confirmed by a study conducted by Dr. Esther Paran of Soroka Medical Center in Israel. What he did was to select patients that were not responding well to hypertension medications, and gave them a daily supplement of tomato extract. Within 4 weeks, they all experienced a significant reduction in their blood pressure. It is recommended that you eat at least 4 tomatoes daily to see these positive results. You can make tomato juice, add tomatoes to your salad and sauces or make tomato salsa. You can also run to the pharmacy to buy tomato-concentrate pills... which is what I suggest, rather than trying to eat 4 tomatoes a day.

#4 is High Fiber Foods

Don't forget to include high fiber foods to your diet. All that simply means is to eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain.

#5 is Potassium Rich Foods

One of the major contributing factors to high blood pressure is not having enough potassium and too much sodium. It's really best to get your daily potassium from natural foods instead of supplements. Potassium rich foods include potatoes, meat, oranges, and bananas. However, too much potassium is also not good and can be dangerous to your health. You just want a good balance of potassium-to-sodium.

So, as you can see, simply eating naturally and organically as much as possible can bring your blood pressure down effectively when you start to eat right. I know it's not always easy to make dietary changes, and you may find it difficult to break some old habits. However, you'll find the effort you put in will soon bring about pleasant results to your health.

This is the results you're looking for, right? Okay, now take action and go for it!

How To Get Motivated To Lose Weight And In Shape When You're Over 50

For men and women over 50, one of the biggest problems with losing weight is typically motivation. Older people can be very happy and content just sitting back on the couch and watching TV. How many times have you seen people stop their vehicle in front of the mailbox to get the mail through the window. Why not drive in and park have a walk back to the mailbox instead? It all adds up. No, walking down your driveway will not get you in shape unless you live five miles from the main road. But you have to get motivated to shape up and it can start with the little things.

So, being over 50, how do you get motivated? Well, put a photo up of your goal on the bathroom mirror. Remind yourself every day why you need to workout, get in shape and eat properly. There is no reason for you to be overweight unless you just choose to be.

You can learn how to lose weight by listening to motivational CDs or even watching DVDs. One way to stay motivated is to go to a gym. They have exercise classes that will help you get fit. You will begin meeting other people over 50 who have the same goals which will help you stay motivated. They will make you accountable for participating. Ideally the motivation to exercise should come from within. You should want to be in shape and not be overweight. You just have to want to do it.

The motivation to slim up should be simply to live a healthy life. No, it is not particularly easy or fun, especially if you are not accustomed to doing it. But are you going to be accustomed to having a heart attack? A Stroke? Diabetes? The health benefits of getting fit and losing weight far outweigh the inconvenience.

However, 75% of Americans disagree with that last fact. They have no problem with being overweight. The medical community now believe that modern medicine has even made it possible to stay alive longer and be obese. So that makes people relax about losing the weight.

But tell me this. Why would someone want to be overweight and unfit? You can hear the overweight and out of shape coming a mile away. The huffing and puffing as they make their way down the hallway at work or climbing a set of stairs. They cannot move comfortably packing all that weight around. That alone should be motivation enough to get in shape and lose weight.

So, if you're man or woman over 50... get motivated and reduce your fat. Your life will be much better for it, honestly.

New Health Care Program Impact On America And It's Seniors

I haven't really taken a good look at the new health care program that was recently passed, but someone who I respect has taken a close look at it and here is his published findings on the impact it will have on seniors and America. I now turn you over to William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.

"Social Medicine Will Bankrupt The Nation

America's best days may be in the past -- because social medicine WILL bankrupt us all.

The backwards plan that passed Congress recently doesn't fully take effect for years... but it's already costing us billions.

One new study finds that American companies will lose $14 billion this year alone because of tax changes in the bill. How many more jobs will that cost us? Don't ask your local politician -- he doesn't care.

But if he voted for the bill, be sure to send him to the back of the growing unemployment line in November.

Those same tax changes will cause companies to kill the prescription drug benefits many offer to retirees -- so up to 2 million seniors will have to find some other way to get their meds.

I'm all about finding alternatives to Big Pharma's worst drugs... but some people won't have a choice in the matter when they're faced with huge new bills.

Bankrupt seniors? YES WE CAN!

If you want to know the truth about ObamaCare, just take a look at some of its backers.

Shortly after this disastrous bill passed Congress, congratulations were sent out... from Fidel Castro in Havana! I don't need to tell you that this wasn't some friendly message from a neighbor, but a smug, gloating attack from a commie enemy who wants nothing more than to see America go the way of Cuba, and not just when it comes to medicine.

But while Castro grins into that beard of his, his own brother -- the man who's actually in charge of that nation now -- says Cuba needs to spend less on medicine.

That's right -- socialized medicine has gotten too expensive... even for the commies!

It's taken them decades to figure it out. How long will it take us to learn that same lesson -- and how much will it cost?"

Whether you or I agree or disagree, it's really something to think and be concerned about. What's your feelings on this?

Older Men And Women Discover 3 Weight Loss Myths

Being a man or woman over 50, just how many weight loss tips do you already know? Plenty of them, right? You’ve read them in the health and fitness magazines, you’ve seen them on TV and the Internet, you may have heard them from your doctor, and you’ve certainly discussed them with your friends.

As a wiser older person, by now you probably know, although may not want to believe, that fad diets, weight loss pills and supplements do not work. However, for some reason, we constantly hold out hope that THIS diet or pill or piece of exercise equipment will be the ONE. And let's not insult your intelligence by lecturing you on the need to take in fewer calories than you use up during the day.

Listen, here's the problem. The weight loss industry is filled with myths and misleading information. Why is this? Maybe it's because they want you to buy their products. People also misinterpret information and so truths may get twisted. Here are three common myths and the truth about each one that men and women over 50 have discovered.

Myth #1: It is possible to accomplish spot reduction of fat. FALSE! It is impossible to force your body to spot reduce, no matter what workouts you are doing. Doing crunches and leg lifts to reduce belly fat frequently reduces the muscle mass rather than the fat beneath the abdomen. So instead of focusing on working out one area of your body, it is best to work your entire body while you follow a healthy diet. This will certainly speed up your metabolism and that is what burns fat.

Myth #2: Drastically reducing calorie intake will reduce your body fat. FALSE again. This myth is what pushes people to crash diet. Hasn't most everyone tried this? Yes, you may have lost some water weight, but what happens when you drastically reduce your intake? Your body goes into starvation mode. Starvation mode actually slows your metabolism and burns muscle rather than fat for energy. So you lose muscle instead of fat, and when you return to your usual eating patterns, you will regain any weight lost, but not muscle.

Myth #3: Cardio exercises alone will help you lose weight. FALSE once more. Yes, cardio and aerobic exercises can help you lose fat, but you still need to add weight lifting. Actually, weight lifting is really better than both cardio and aerobics. Why? Because weight lifting helps your body burn fat not only during the workout, but also after the workout. That is great news for everyone, not only men and women over 50!

Debunking these three myths and proceeding on the right path of proper food intake and proper workouts will surely lead you to become a fat burner and lose that weight.

Does Laser Hair Loss Treatment Work For People Over 50?

Welcome to another helpful health article for men and women over 50. As you know, I generally give you content about natural, holistic, or alternative health concerns. However, today, I want to touch upon something that's not so natural, but more and more people are becoming interested in it... laser hair loss treatment.

I found it very surprising that laser hair loss treatment is becoming one of the most common ways of treating hair loss today... even aong men and women over 50! As a matter of fact, it was already being performed in the last decades of the Twentieth Century before the equipment was even put on the market. Interestingly, laser hair loss treatment is considered a non-surgical solution for hair loss, thinning hair and baldness as well as a series of other disorders of the scalp such as dermatitis.

However, technically, it is a piece of equipment made out of around 50 therapeutic soft low light level lasers delivering light energy to different areas of the head. This principle is based on stimulating cell metabolism while repairing damaged cells at the same time. By using the power of laser light, it is said you can boost and revitalize your hair.

The theory is that light is energy and as a consequence, cells are able to survive thanks to light. The same goes for your hair. Much to my surprise, this has proven to be particularly efficient when combined with the proper hair hygiene products. I have found that laser hair loss treatment is more effective when used with Minoxidil (the first drug approved by the FDA for hair loss), together with the right scalp hygiene.

This type of treatment has been so successful that it has received numerous, positive reviews. Many magazines (including those catering to seniors), newspapers and TV channels claim that the success of this method of treating hair loss is one of the best on the market today.

It is said there are many benefits of laser hair loss treatment and the people who have tried it have been satisfied with the results... claiming that their hair loss had been greatly reduced after about six weeks of treatment and re-growth could be seen after about three months.

It is also stated and believed that using laser hair loss treatment can improve the flow of blood supply to the scalp after a single treatment. The correct dosage of light energy is applied from a different number of laser positions that helps in stimulating hair follicles, preventing too much hair loss and giving beautiful hair that is shiny, soft as well as thick and better manageable.

Laser hair loss treatment is the new, scientific approach to reducing scalp hair loss. It does not require any kind of surgery at all, just patience and time for the hair to recuperate. Moreover it has been tested to be both safe and effective.

Last but not least, studies conducted by the International Journal of Cosmetic Surgery and Aesthetic Dermatology, have demonstrated that laser hair loss treatment can positively help lots of hair loss sufferers in reducing the amount of hair loss. However, it is my personal belief that more studies should be done on long term and side effects... especially on old folks like us that are over 50

What's your take on this new form of treatment?

Down Home Cooking The Healthy Way When You're Over 50

The following article is another one of my many articles you will find already published at http://tmdassc.qondio.com.

For men and women over 50, down home cooking is referred to by some as southern cooking, and by others as soul food. No matter what you may call it, it's some darn good eating to a lot of folks. Many people who like down home cooking do not get to enjoy it as much as they would like to because of the unhealthy amounts of calories, saturated fats, and cholesterol it generally contains.

However, there's good news for men and women over 50 who enjoy eating down home cooking. You can still enjoy down home cooking or soul food as much as you like because it can now be prepared in a healthy manner. All you need are the right substitutes.

The key to healthy down home cooking is to use lean meats such as round, sirlion, chuck arm pot roast, loin, lean and extra lean ground beef, and poultry with skin removed instead of high fat meats. Fish, beans and grain dishes are also great substitutes.

Substitute skinless chicken thighs for neckbones, turkey thighs for ham hocks and fatback, and small amounts of vegetable oil for lard, butter, or other fats that are hard at room temperature.

Use turkey bacon, lean ham, Canadian bacon(omit if on a low sodium diet) instead of prok bacon. Also substitute ground skinless turkey breast for pork sausage, ground boneless turkey breast for ground beef and pork, lowfat(1% - 2%) or nonfat/skim milk for whole milk, and lowfat or part skim milk cheeses for whole milk cheeses.

Substitute evaporated skim milk for cream, mustard for regular mayonnaise in sandwiches, and nonfat or lowfat dressing, yogurt or mayonnaise for regular mayonnaise in salads and sandwiches.

Use fruits and vegetables without added fat instead of avocado, olives, etc., as salad garnishes, and low sodium bouillon and broths instead of regular bouillons and broths.

Put away the deep fryer and replace it with a steamer. Get into the habit of broiling, steaming roasting/baking, microwaving, grilling, braising/stewing, boiling simmering, and stir-frying with a little bit of oil instead of frying, basting with fat, and cooking in fatty sauces and gravies. When using oil, use no more than 1 - 2 tablespoons of oil per 4 servings.

Substitute a variety of seasonings of herbs and spices for salt. for instance, instead of using salt for your greens, add fresh green pepper and basil. When cooking black eyed peas, add Spanish onion and crushed black pepper. Add pepper first, then taste. You are going to discover a whole new intense flavor in all your main dishes.

These substitutes will make very little difference to the taste of the food, but they will make a world of difference to your heart and to your health when you're over 50.

Now that you have been armed with the knowledge, get ready for some good healthy down home southern cooking and soul food. You can get started right now by grabbing your free complimentary copy of "Healthy Cooking Down Home Recipes" from the Free Reports section of this blog.

The Basics Of Alleviating Stress For Men And Women Over 50

As Australian television personality Andrew Denton has noted - "PRESSURE AND STRESS IS THE COMMON COLD OF THE PSYCHE."

Listen men and women over 50.. stress is a fact of life and a certain amount of stress, unlike the common cold, can even be good for you - but too many stressful incidents can prevent you from reaching your full potential.

There is no magic wand to wave away stress - it takes a determined effort to control your lifestyle to prevent stress overload. However, the basics of alleviating stress are easy to arrange and practice - it's not rocket science - it just takes time and more than a little effort.

First, plan ahead - be organized and prepared. There are close-at-hand weapons available to you in your battle against stress - a pencil and a piece of note paper.

Many times stress is energized because we allow a tidal wave of different and conflicting thoughts to flood our mind making us believe the assignments ahead are too overpowering.

Prepare for tomorrow the night before:

Take the time to sit down with a pencil and paper and list all the assignments you feel are important to complete the next day. When all the tomorrow tasks are listed, redo and list each item in order of importance. Finally, mark the time you think it would take to complete each task - review the total time and when you reach the time limit you feel comfortable with, draw a line across the page - that's tomorrow's schedule.

One other important item when completing the final schedule, as a man or woman over 50... it's vital that you allow time for relaxing,exercising and to eat a healthy meal - three more important weapons in alleviating stress.

"IN TIMES OF GREAT STRESS OR ADVERSITY, IT'S ALWAYS BEST TO KEEP BUSY, TO PLOW YOUR ANGER AND YOUR ENERGY INTO SOMETHING POSITIVE" - Lee Iacocca

Something positive - great advice - but again, not easy. Maintaining a positive attitude also takes a great deal of work and commitment, but by following two basic fundamentals of positive thinking,you can detour your life into a new affirmative direction that will lower the stress level no matter what the situation and, as a bonus,make you a happier, more contented individual.

First and foremost - stop all the negative talk. Start today - every time you utter a negative thought, repeat what you said and change the negative into a positive. Make a game of it. Tell those you trust how you are trying to change your lifestyle and have them yell out "negative" every time you utter a negative thought. If they catch you on such a miscue - you have to give them a dime or some such reward.

Repetition is the key to changing negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Come up with your own personal mantra you can silently repeat to yourself to constantly remind you of your new positive, less stressful lifestyle - the word "POSITIVE" is a good one to start with.

Secondly,stay away from those who view life pessimistically. Those who are unenthusiastic about life can drag you down faster than a freighter's anchor - join the people who make you happy - better yet - be around people who you can talk to about your feelings.

As men and women over 50, there's one more basic fundamental... find the humor in it - take time to laugh loud and often - it's the best medicine for alleviating stress.

Again from Lee Iacocca - "STRESS IS WHEN YOU WAKE UP SCREAMING AND YOU REALIZE YOU HAVEN'T FALLEN ASLEEP YET."

4 Natural Ways For Men And Women Over 50 To Stop Hair Loss

Being a man or woman over 50, do you look in the mirror and frown at how much your hair has thinned out? Are you busy trying to hide your receding hair lines or bald spots? If you run your hand lightly through your hair, do you end up with 20-50 loose strands? If you said yes to any of these questions, you probably are wondering what you need to do to stop this hair loss.

Hair loss occurs in both men and women. It has a great impact on a person's confidence and self esteem. In recent years, more and more young people are suffering from premature hair loss. The culprit that contributes to this increasing trend is the modern lifestyle of stress, tension, poor diet, insufficient rest and use of harmful chemicals.

So, what are some natural remedies to reduce the hair fall for men and women over 50? Here are some suggestions:

1. Vitamin B7 Biotin

This type of B-complex vitamin does well to encourage hair growth, strengthen hair and prevent hair loss. You can get Biotin by eating foods such as yeast, kidney, eggs, liver, nuts and soy beans. However, getting Biotin from your diet is insufficient for your hair needs. You still need Biotin supplements. The recommended daily intake (RDI) is 30mcg. But you don't have to worry about over dosage as there are no side effects. Any excess will be excreted. There are plenty of testimonials vouching for the effectiveness of Biotin in reducing hair loss. Some saw results as fast as 1 week.

2. Egg treatment
You may not like the idea of dumping egg on your head but the fact remains that it can remedy your hair loss. It's able to strengthen your hair. There are a few ways to apply it.

- Combine 1 egg with 2tbsp of olive oil. Whip it up and leave on hair for 1/2 hour before rinsing off with cold water.

- Mix honey with egg yolk and massage into scalp and head. Leave for 1/2 hour then rinse off.

- Whip 2 egg yolks with 1/2 cup of water. Massage into scalp and hair for 5 minutes. Wash off with water.

It's crucial that you remember not to use hot water when rinsing. You may end up with slightly cooked eggs on your head. Now some of you might be wondering "how do I get rid of the bad egg smell afterwards?" After washing off the egg treatment, follow-up with a rinse of vinegar mixed in water. The smell will be gone. Another tip is to wash the hair with some lemon juice.

3. Change your shampoo

Take a look at your shampoo and see if it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) or Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS)? These are corrosive ingredients and are used in household and commercial cleaners such as car wash soap, engine degreaser, and garage floor cleaners. It is said to attack your hair follicles and interfere with hair growth. Although studies are still on going, many already attribute premature hair loss to these ingredients. The danger of SLS is quite controversial. But why take the risk when you can be safe with organic shampoos that use natural ingredients. There are also countless testimonies of how changing to a non-SLS shampoo lead to a reduction in hair loss.

4. Aloe Vera
Why not follow the footsteps of the Native Americans, Indians and Caribbeans in using Aloe Vera to keep skin, scalp and hair healthy. Not only does it prevent excessive hair loss but also encourages hair growth. It creates a balanced pH level, cleanses the pores and repairs damaged hair. If you have the plant, you can rub the natural gel onto your scalp. If not, you can opt for the over-the-counter Aloe Vera gel. Leave it on your head for an hour or more, then rinse off. There are also shampoos and conditioners with Aloe Vera as part of it's formula. If you don't mind the hassle, you can even make your own Aloe Vera shampoo by mixing it together with coconut milk and a little wheat germ oil.

Excessive hair loss is a great concern whether you're a man or woman over 50, or you are as young as 18 years old. You may be eager to try the many hair loss treatments that you've read about. However, the first important step is to visit a dermatologist to rule out any underlying health problem. When you understand better what is causing your hair to fall, you will be more successful in finding a remedy.

Common Causes And Relief From Tinnitus For Men And Women Over 50

let's get straight to the point here. Men and women over 50 have gone far too long to continue to suffer from the effects of tinnitus. Sure, you may have gotten used to it, and even think you have learned how to live with it, but the fact still remains... it needs to come to an end NOW!

Generally when over 50 baby boomers think about the buzzing and ringing in their ears that come with tinnitus, they often only think about the auditory issues that come with tinnitus. What they ignore is what the ringing in ears can do to their lives. Tinnitus has many psychological implications and it can negatively affect your life, which is why treating the symptoms of ringing in ears is so important.

Stress and Tension

One of the biggest psychological factors of tinnitus is stress. Men and women over 50 are at that point in life where they stress about failing health and fitness, finances, retirement, health and life insurance, kids and grand kids, and a host of other things. Feeling stressed is a natural result of dealing with tinnitus. If you let the stress build up, the tinnitus can worsen... creating a really vicious cycle.

The question is how can people over 50 possibly manage stress when they are dealing with tinnitus and the ringing in the ears?

When someone has tinnitus and stress, they actually have to tackle both issues head on. You have to learn to both treat the tinnitus and manage the stress. By taking care of both issues simultaneously, you can then relieve the symptoms of both.

The proper way to deal with both is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Whenever you eat right, exercise, and get enough rest, you can manage both stress and tinnitus. While it might not be as easy as it sounds, with practice, you can start to manage your stress.

An exercise routine is a good way to start off. Ringing ears and other tinnitus symptoms can be alleviated by combating stress, and exercise is one of the best ways you can do this.

Eat fresh foods that are low in salt to compliment the exercise and make sure you don’t leave your emotions bottled up. Bottled up emotions can contribute to stress. Thus, you need to find someone you can talk to whenever you are feeling overwhelmed or unhappy.

You can also try acupuncture because it really works well for many people. Acupuncture has been proven to be effective in treating stress and tinnitus. Your acupuncturist will assess your individual needs and then come up with a plan to help you. He or she will work to relieve the tension in your body and they will also work at finding the cause of the tinnitus and relieving it. You yourself might find this to be very helpful.

Sufferers of tinnitus discover that stress is not the only problem that they have. This can also affect your social life.

Antisocial Activity

Whenever folks over 50 suffer from tinnitus, they can end up closing off from the rest of the world. A lot of that is due to their discomfort. Being sociable when someone is feeling pain is very difficult to do.

Another reason is because people are not sure when their tinnitus will act up. Being out in the world when the symptoms get bad is not comfortable so they decide to stay in. This causes a lot of problems.

Often if people don't socialize, they find they are not getting everything they need in life. Being a social animal is part of being a human being. One very important part of life is socialization and when people can't socialize due to problems... they can suffer greatly!

If you don't get the right amount of social interaction, many problems can occur. It is a must that you find a way to stop the ringing and buzzing enough so that you can enjoy going out with friends.

Take the time to discover what your triggers are, rather than just cutting off your friends. You should avoid going out to clubs with your friends as these places are usually very noisy and will make your tinnitus symptoms worse. However, if they are having a few people over to watch the game, go with them and have great time.

By controlling the situations you put yourself in, you can control the tinnitus. It is important that you can keep it from acting up when you are out.

In addition, it is important to discover treatments that lessen your symptoms and will reduce your flair ups. This is something you can do to regain your confidence.

Fatigue

As important as it is to get rid of stress and become more social, it is possibly even more important to get enough sleep. It is remarkable the way that sleep can affect your moods. If you do not get enough sleep, you may often feel out of sorts. Often it is difficult to function and this can lead to other problems.

Sleeping can be hard to do when you have tinnitus. People go through many different things in order to find a way to sleep. Sleeping pills is one thing many people try. Hiwever, trying this is definitely not recommended. Sleeping issues need to be addressed because they are not going to be short term. You are looking at a long term problem, which means you need a long term solution.

Taking sleeping pills regularly can lead to an addiction and you need to find a safer way to fall asleep each night.

Be sure that your bedroom is never completely quiet. A complete quiet room will cause your tinnitus to act up. Use a masker or put a white noise machine in your room.

Second, using alcohol to fall asleep is very detrimental. This is a mistake that many people over 50 make. Admitting that alcohol can be a major contributor to your symptoms is something you have to realize. A small amount of alcohol may be fine, but too many drinks can make your tinnitus worse. Don't get into the habit of drinking each night just so you can fall asleep. Dependencies are often formed like this.

Knowing more about the different problems that result from tinnitus will probably increase your quest for a real solution to your issues.

You have learned ways to mask the problems, but what if you could get rid of them completely?

Full Body Health

While you can mask your symptoms so you can deal with tinnitus, the best way to handle your tinnitus is to cure it. You need to take care of your entire body in order to do that.

Just because the symptoms show up in your ear does not mean that is were it originated. It is important that you take care of your entire body by implementing a proper diet with exercise and taking supplements.

Right now, the ringing in your ears is practically debilitating, but it does not have to be. You have the ability to control your symptoms and rid yourself of tinnitus. Suffering from tinnitus should happen to no one. Allowing the issue to rule your life is something you must not allow.

I am not a medical professional, but I have offered these well known and helpful tips to help you get some relief from tinnitus when you're a man or woman over 50. Check out the health products sales area over to the right for cures or remedies for tinnitus.

Deep Vein Thrombosis Concerns For Men And Women Over 50

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurs in men and women over 50 when a blood clot forms in the deep veins of the body. This most commonly happens in the veins of the leg, particularly the calf. In some instances it may also develop in deep veins in other areas such as the arm. Clots in deep veins are different to those that form just under the skin. Superficial clots are called Phlebitis and are far less likely to have serious consequences.

DVT itself may not pose a significant risk as long as the clot remains in situ within the leg. In fact in many cases the body's natural processes may cause clots to break down and be reabsorbed without causing any lasting injury. However, problems occur when the clot or part of it breaks free and travels through the blood vessels. It could have particularly serious consequences if it lodges in the main arteries of the lungs.

Blockage in the pulmonary artery of the lung is a potentially life threatening condition referred to as a pulmonary embolism.

Symptoms of DVT include:

Swelling and tenderness of the leg

Redness and heat in the affected area

However, many small clots may cause no symptoms at all.

Why do clots form in the veins of the leg?

Blood needs to travel up the legs, which defies gravity. This upward movement is supported by the regular contraction of the calf muscles as a result of normal daily movement. However, during periods of extended inactivity this muscular support is lacking and blood tends to pool in the legs. This results in the common sensation of swollen ankles after a long flight. It can also result in blood clotting in the deep veins, setting in motion the DVT process.

Given that long periods of inactivity increase risk of DVT, there have been many claims that long international flights pose a significant risk. This has led to DVT being called "Economy Class Syndrome" because limited leg room in Economy Class may make passengers particularly vulnerable. Scientific opinion is divided on the risks of air travel in this regard. Nevertheless many airlines today choose to play it safe and advise passengers to take precautions against DVT including:

Moving around frequently during a flight.

Exercising leg muscles regularly while seated.

Avoiding too much alcohol.

Keeping well hydrated.

Wearing loose fitting clothes especially around the legs.

There are many factors that increase the risk of DVT including:

Prior history of blood clots.

Family History of DVT or blood clots.

Surgery or injury especially to the hips or legs.

Certain blood disorders that increase the risk of blood clots.

Circulation problems or heart failure.

Pregnancy.

Use of oral contraceptives.

Obesity.

Smoking.

Symptoms of DVT may not always be clear cut and can often be confused with other conditions. Hence doctors may use a combination of tests to reach a diagnosis of DVT including:

Blood tests.

Ultrasounds to detect blood clots.

Venograms - where dye is injected into the veins to help detect blockages.

Complications of DVT in men and women over 50 can be serious and life threatening. The most serious is a Pulmonary Embolism where the clot breaks away and blocks the pulmonary artery in the lung. This can cause chest pain and shortness of breath and if not treated immediately can cause death. The connection with DVT may not be immediately apparent as the pulmonary embolism may occur several days after the initial onset of DVT.

Other complications include:

Post-thrombotic syndrome where the clot causes damage to the valves in the vein causing blood to collect in the limb resulting in pain,swelling and ulcers in the leg.

Limb Ischaemia where the blockage results in reduced blood flow and reduced oxygen to the cells in the leg.

The most common treatment for DVT is the use of anticoagulants such as Heparin and Warfarin which aim to dissolve the clot. Use of anticoagulant medication carries its own risks so like most other medical conditions prevention is always better than cure. A healthy, active lifestyle and diet combined with some commonsense can help avoid men and women over 50 the pain and potentially serious consequences of DVT.

How Men And Women Can Lower Bad Cholesterol Levels

Cholesterol is a fatty and waxy substance that is produced by the liver. Too much of saturated fats in your diet may contribute to high blood cholesterol. Most saturated fats come from animal products such as butter, cheese, chocolate, whole milk, pies, pastries, cakes, hot chips, potatoes and hash browns.

In some individuals, high cholesterol levels can be due to a genetic disorder. Too much cholesterol in your blood will start building up in the artery walls, causing narrowing of the arteries. This increases your risk of developing heart or brain attack(stroke).

Whatever the cause of your high levels of cholesterol is, it is very important that you as a man or woman over 50 make efforts to lower your cholesterol levels by changing your lifestyle:

1.Follow a heart healthy dietary pattern.

2.Lose some weight if you are overweight.

3.Be active by doing moderate physical exercises for at least 30 minutes daily.

4.Avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

5.Avoid foods prepared with butter, hydrogenated oil, coconut or palm oil.

6.Avoid white meat fats, chicken skin or processed meats and chicken.

7.Have more servings of dried peas, beans, soy products, oats, whole grains and high-fibre cereals.

If your cholesterol level is too high, your doctor may put you on medication for a short time or for life. If that is the case, you should have your cholesterol levels checked every three months until it is controlled and then every six months.

In normal circumstances, cholesterol is very important as it helps our bodies to function properly. Cholesterol and other fats are also called lipids and each of these has a different function:

1.The High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL)often called the "good" cholesterol because it helps to remove cholesterol from the artery walls, thereby reducing your risk of heart disease.

2.The Low-Density Lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL) is often called "bad" cholesterol because it deposits cholesterol into the artery wall, increasing your risk of heart disease or heart attack.

3.The Triglycerides are the most common form of fat in the body. They act as energy storage tanks of the body. High levels of triglycerides cause many diseases in the body, including heart disease and stroke.

To know your lipid profile, visit you doctor and he or she will perform a fasting blood test. An ideal profiles should is:

Total cholesterol(TC) less than 4mmol/L

LDL cholesterol less than 2.5 mmol/L

HDL cholesterol greater than 1mmol/L

TC/HDL ratio less than 4.5

Triglycerides less than 1.7 mmol/L

Therefore when you're a man or woman over 50, it is important to change your life style to remain healthy and live longer. Develop good eating habits, keep fit and enjoy life.

FDA Allows Contaminated Foods For Human Consumption

This is one of my many articles you will find published at http://tmdassc.qondio.com. It has received high ratings, comments and bookmarks because the readers there found it to be very beneficial to them. Hopefully, you too will also find it very eye opening and beneficial to you.

What inspired me to write this article was an article published by a fellow by the screen name of "TheOldCoot" at http://tmdassc.qondio.com. The article is titled "I'll Make My Own"! When you get a chance, you should read it so you can get the full impact of this article.

If by chance you have read the article "I'll Make My Own" by theoldcoot, then you are already ahead of the ball and this article will further expand your knowledge of the contamination of commercially processed foods. This article not only expands on foods, but delves deeper into the contamination of beverages and spices as well.

For those who have not read the above mentioned article, here is a brief snynopsis. "TheOldCoot" had an in-date pack of commercially processed pasta he had previously purchased and decided to use it with some beans that had been given to him. Upon opening the pasta, he was unpleasantly surprised to find it was contaminated with... to put it mildly, living creatures and their body waste!

I am not going to go into details about it here because you'll find that in his published article. However, I will go into more details of how this occurs and the FDA's(Food and Drug Administration) allowance and approval of it.

If you're over 50, then you most likely remember when family farms were the norm and a great many people grew and reaped their own foods. The foods were very carefully checked and cleaned of contaminants before storing or eating it. That which was stored, was further checked and cleaned before consuming.

As technology and automation came into being, everything became commercially grown, reaped, and processed more quickly than humans could do it by hand. However, this also became the onset of quality control loss. The commercial food processors told the FDA that a certain amount of contamination could not be avoided, and levels should be established as to what was harmful and not harmful to humans per serving.

Given the fact the FDA is part of the government which is rewarded in great financial ways by commercial industries... the FDA decided it was best to lie in bed with them and close it's eyes to certain things. That even goes so far as to justify and approve food contamination.

While it is true that certain amount of contamination of foods, beverages, and spices can not be avoided when it is commercially grown and processed... it is also true that higher quality control standards should have been put into place.

Just because an agency that financially benefits(FDA) has stated that a certain amount of contamination per serving is not harmful to humans... does not mean it is not harmful to humans over the days, weeks, months, and years of consumption of such contaminants.

To put it bluntly, the consumption of bugs and maggots and their feces, and rodent hairs and feces is supposingly not harmful to humans per serving... however, that does not mean the consumption of such contaminants is not harmful three times a day, seven days a week, year in and year out. Just imagine how much you have consumed if you're a man or woman over 50.

Yes, the above mentioned contaminants, and more, are found in the foods, beverages, and spices we consume each and every day. As a matter of fact, the FDA publishes a secret handbook that it distributes only to food processors, and it gives the food processors the FDA's guidance on what levels of contaminants they should police themselves at.

Can you believe that? The agency which is responsible for insuring no harm comes to humans through what we consume... leaves it up to the commercial processors to police after themselves. Isn't that a lot like leaving the fox to guard the hen house?

Could this commercial way of doing things, lost of quality, and the FDA's blessing be the cause of constantly rising cancer rates, food recalls, food bourne illness, sickness, and disease? You make the logical call and decision!

Need further proof? Then you are invited to grab a free copy of the special report located in the Free Health Reports section of this blog. The report contains the actual FDA secret handbook of food levels contaminants which it allows and approves. You will also learn the simple things you can start doing right now to protect your own health, as well as that of your loved ones.

If nothing else, just take a look out of pure curiosity to see what you, your family, and others you are concerned about are consumming each and every day. Guarantee it's a real eye opener!

What Men And Women Over 50 Need To Know About Strokes And Stroke Symptoms

Many men and women over 50 may experience one or more strokes in their lifetime... so it is beneficial to understand more about them and the devastation they can cause to our lives and the lives of people who care about us. A stroke can affect a person's speech, memory, ability to walk or even move, understanding of other people's speech, reading, writing, hearing, sense of smell and taste, problem solving capabilities, and if it is severe, it can render a person permanently disabled or cause death.

A stroke in a man or woman over 50 can occur in various situations:

• If the blood supply to the brain gets temporarily cut off, often caused by a blood clot in the carotid artery which refuses to dissolve.

• Damage of the vasculature (blood vessels) in a specific part of the brain or neck which can be caused by some sort of trauma, e.g. a car accident, causing bleeding into the nervous tissue.

• A burst aneurysm, which is basically a swelling in an artery caused by a weakened artery wall.

• During or soon after a carotid endarterectomy which is a vascular surgical procedure that strips out the inner lining of the carotid artery in order to remove the embedded plaque.

Symptoms of a stroke in men and women over 50:

Symptoms of stroke may include blurred or decreased vision, very severe headaches, weakness, paralysis of the face and often additional paralysis down one side of the body including an arm and leg, numbness, poor balance and coordination, and slurred or incoherent speech.

There are basically two different types of strokes - Ischemic and Hemorrhagic:

Ischemic Strokes

Ischemic strokes are the most common type of strokes (about 80%) and are caused by one or more blood clots, which are stopping or restricting blood flow to the brain, or an obstruction or restriction in an artery. Ischemic strokes are a leading cause of death and disability; they can be treated with a drug called t-PA that dissolves the blood clots. Ischemic strokes can be classified as thrombotic (blood clots) and embolic (obstruction of a blood vessel). A mini-stroke is referred to as a TIA (transient ischemic attack).

Hemorrhagic Strokes

A hemorrhagic stroke results from a ruptured blood vessel which causes blood to leak in the brain. Hemorrhagic transformation can happen when complications arise in acute cases of ischemic stroke and this can be very difficult to treat and can often be fatal. Emergency treatment for this type of stroke is to control as much as possible intracranial pressure.

Strokes and Women

Men and women generally have many similar risk factors and symptoms of stroke but women are also vulnerable to FMD (a condition called Fibromuscular Dysplasia), in which general ongoing deterioration of arterial blood vessels triggers a stroke, and women have a risk of stroke during and immediately after pregnancy. In 2002 there were approximately three times as many women's deaths due to strokes as deaths due to breast cancer in England and Wales. After menopause, women have a higher risk of cardiovascular problems which could lead to a stroke. Despite these gloomy statistics for women, men have more likelihood of suffering a stroke than women do.

It is advisable to have regular health checks, and to take and to put into effect suitable advice to reduce your chances of having a stroke.

A Lot Of Men Over 50 Can Reclaim Their Manhood Through Diet

Men over 50... stop and take a good look at yourself. Are you the man you've always wanted to be? Honestly - are you as man as your woman always envisions you to be?

Often times, when we take a good look at ourselves from inside out, we might find ourselves very much lacking in the masculinity that makes us "man."

Men over 50 are known to have declining testosterone level starting from the early age of 25. Without acknowledging how important testosterone is to our body, we don't seem to be too keen on replenishing our own male hormone as we should, thus unknowingly letting ourselves turn into a man of more femininity than masculinity.

Our dropping testosterone level is the main reason why we're turning more and more feminine these days, the causes for which can be from our wrong lifestyles and inappropriate diets. Therefore, we can also find our solutions there too.

This is a well founded "Testosterone Boosting Plan" men can take to reclaim their manhood:

1. Don't overdo the booze

Although moderate amount of alcohol is considered to be very healthful to the body, too much of it leads to male sexual impotence because it suppresses testosterone production.

2. Eat enough protein at each meal

Good quality proteins such as eggs, fish, pork, beef steak, chicken, turkey, oysters and all the yummy seafoods will help your body increase the production of growth hormone which then tells the body to manufacture muscle and testosterone. Besides, it moderates the production of fat-producing insulin which are our #1 aging factor.

3. Stay away from refined carbohydrates at all costs

Breads, pastas, biscuits and cereals urge our body to produce massive amount of insulin which builds fat and promotes feminizing estrogen that is the main factor to turn men into women. Insulin also ensures the speed of of the aging process which is often accompanied by atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, and others.

4. Eat foods rich in B-complex vitamins

Liver, lean meats, yeast, fish, wheat germ and peanuts are excellent sources of niacin. Raw nuts and asparagus contain Thiamine. For riboflavin, broccoli and bananas are excellent choices too. These B-complex vitamins enriched foods can help boost and replenish testosterone that makes us "man."

5. Eat small, frequent meals rather than 3 big meals per day

Since large meals are well known for stimulating excessive fat-producing insulin, it's always a good idea to eat wisely, such as: eat every two to three hours; eat before we get hungry; and eat for the activity we plan for the immediate future. Always eat the largest meal the earliest in the day.

With healthful diets as such, men over 50 testosterone levels are sure to increase by leaps and bounds and we can be as "man" as "man" can be!

Raw Foods Dieting And Eating For Men And Women Over 50

Eating a raw food diet is essentially a way of eating that does not involve the heating of foods. Part of the premise lies in the fact that heating foods above 118 degrees fahrenheit destroys their inherent food enzymes, a vast majority of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and their all important life force.

Chemical Changes in Cooked Foods

Heating foods radically changes their chemical properties making them less "recognizable" in once ingested. For instance, heating an egg renders into a solid mass whereas it began in a liquid, gelatinous. This occurs because the heat of frying or boiling denatures the protein structure within the egg, essentially making it more solid. As a result, this heated egg is now much more difficult for the human digestive tract to break down.

Another process that occurs with cooking foods is known as glycosylation. This is when sugar literally attaches to protein molecule. Glycosylation has been linked to the premature breakdown of the body's cell and many other undesirable health conditions.

The Importance of Raw Food Enzymes

The reason that the natural food enzymes are so important is that our bodies have only a limited ability to produce its own enzymes. Bear in mind that our bodies produce metabolic and digestive enzymes. The latter are used to breakdown foods whereas the former are essential to every single reaction in the body. But the problem is that we only produce a finite number.

When you eat cooked foods, you force your body to use more of its own enzyme reserves to digest them. Overtime, this is just like continually withdrawing money from your bank account without making any deposits. Eventually, you will run out of enzymes!

When you have no more enzymes, you no longer have any life - it's that simple.

Eating raw foods help you make more "deposits" into your enzyme bank account, allowing your body to preserve its own precious enzymes for more important uses such as breaking down problematic cells, immune complexes, and more.

What Can You Eat on a Raw Food Diet?

A raw food diet is mainly vegan for the simple reason that it isn't healthy or advised to eat raw animal products. Therefore, a raw diet contains no dairy, meat, or other animal products. Other than that, the choices are endless. Most raw foodists have diets that consist of vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds.

The amazing part is that the possibilities are truly endless with raw foods. Many people think of not being able to eat meat or wheat as a huge limiting factor. But the fact remains that processed, dead foods are dangerous to your body and there are tons of delicious and nourishing raw food recipes that will give you so much more than you can possibly imagine.

My Own Raw Food Experience

I started following a predominantly raw food diet in 2007 and it literally changed my life. From improved skin complexion to having more energy and mental clarity, I can't tell you how much better you can look and feel by eating the way nature intended for you to eat.

Growing up on dead foods like wheat, dairy, and meat literally destroyed my body and at the young age of 17, I lost my hair to Alopecia as a result of my immune system which had gone hay-wire and began attacking itself. Again, this was caused by years of abusing my body with foods that it was allergic to.

However, since eating a raw food diet, my health has never been better. My hair has returned (although I keep my head shaved because I like it like that now) and I have more energy than a teenager on red bull!

That's why I wrote Eating for Energy. If you'd like to experience the same kind of health and vitality then I urge to make the raw food diet more apart of your lifestyle!

Women Over 50 And Pregnancy

There was once a time when pregnancy after the age of 50 was extremely dangerous for women. While certain risks do accompany the older mother to be, today’s knowledge along with state-of-the-art technology makes pregnancy after 50 much safer for both mother and child.

Many women are waiting later in life to start their families. That means that a woman might be pushing 50 – or even older – when she conceives her first child. If you are a woman over 50 and considering having a baby, talk to your gynecologist. And remember, you might not get pregnant immediately. So, deciding at 50 that you are ready to have a family might mean you are actually 52 or 53 before your bundle of joy arrives.

You may also want to considering making an appointment with a fertility specialist just to rule out any physical complications that may prevent you from conceiving. No matter what you learn, don't be discouraged. Many women over 50 are having great success getting pregnant after being diagnosed with infertility by using the assistance of a fertility specialist.

Your physician can also pinpoint the statistics for various complications, including Down’s Syndrome, based on your age. Be prepared to make some tough decisions. Chances are you won't have to, but always be prepared. Your doctor may ask you what you would do if you discover that your unborn baby will be born with defects. Be honest with yourself, your partner and your medical provider.

Doctors vary on the advice they give to prospective mothers. A good doctor will give you knowledge to make the decision right for you. Technology allows doctors to size up pregnancies quickly and the amniocentesis that was once a sure thing for older pregnant women can often be replaced by other less invasive procedures, such as a detailed ultrasound.

Once you have safely delivered your baby you may think – whew! But this may well be when you actually start to feel your age. Late nights up with a crying baby begin to take their toll on any mother, but an older mother may tire quicker. Then, the toddler years will keep you running. The rewards of motherhood are priceless, however, and you can combat the fatigue by taking good care of yourself before, during and after pregnancy.

The next conflict might arise as your child hits his or her teen years just as night sweats and hot flashes are symbolizing your start of menopause. It's something to consider, but again the rewards of motherhood will outweigh any concern. Just know the conflict might arise and address it by seeing a medical professional to keep your menopause symptoms in check while you help your teen through the rough, awkward years.

Can Vitamin Supplements Help Prevent Osteoporosis In Women Over 50?

It is a known fact that vitamins are essential to good health. In a perfect world we would obtain all needed vitamins directly from the food we eat on a daily basis. However, because this is not reality for many individuals, there are some convincing reasons to consider taking vitamin supplements.

Vitamins can help us overcome our lifestyle problems. On the whole, we are not very responsible when it comes to healthy habits. Many people play with their lives by smoking an endless number of cigarettes, drinking alcohol to excess and live in suffocated air-conditioned homes without ever considering the harm that they unknowingly invite into their lives. By taking vitamin C every day, some of these negative effects may be counteracted.

Women over 50 in particular have special vitamin needs related to osteoporosis. Although men can also have osteoporosis, it tends to attack women more and cause them greater suffering. By supplementing with calcium on a daily basis, much of the risk for osteoporosis can be offset.
 Dieters have special supplementation needs of their own. Many young girls diet on a regular basis and consume far to few calories to accommodate their vitamin needs. While the wisdom of going on particular weight loss diets is a topic for another discussion, anyone on such a diet should look to vitamin supplements to avoid malnutrition and other maladies. Inadequate nutrition and vitamin supplementation can cause women over 50 to be vulnerable to various ailments and a weakened immune system

Another great reason to consider vitamin supplementation is the potential cancer prevention some vitamins are believed to provide. Research has suggested that vitamin E and vitamin A prevents skin cancer. Many studies in recent years have found that other types of cancers can be similarly prevented by taking certain vitamins.

While there is never a fail proof plan when it comes to vitamin supplementation, the evidence does suggest that risk may be reduced and conditions may be improved through vitamin supplementation. Due to all of the possible benefits, supplementation is definitely worth considering for women over 50.

10 Ways Men And Women Over 50 Can Amp Up Their Energy

Wouldn't it be great to have all the energy you needed to get yourself through the day when you're a man or woman over 50? So many of us find ourselves struggling to come up with the ambition to get things done and hopefully have somewhat of a productive day. With a few minor adjustments in habits, lifestyle and attitude, you can turn the struggle into a pleasant journey that will leave you happy, satisfied and more fulfilled. We will begin with a short discussion of two common types of energy we all experience at one time or another and how they affect our lives for better or worse. They are calm energy and tense energy.

CALM ENERGY

Calm energy is a state of low stress and high controlled energy. Small issues remain small and do not develop into more than what they really are. They therefore do not get in the way of things that are more important. Your physical and mental reserves are at a high level, giving you the serene confidence of an ideal flow state where you feel in continuous control.Your sense of well being and a positive outlook are in place. Due to this positive vantage point, your perception of attaining a successful result is much greater.Everything you do seems to go easily and smoothly. This is by far the energy you need to have on a regular basis.

TENSE ENERGY

Tense energy is the opposite. It can be the result of artificial stimulants such as caffeine, a situational effect of anger, stress or by merely being in a general rush. This type of energy cannot be maintained without a price. It interferes with the optimal neurotransmissions in the brain and in the long run leaves you exhausted; depleted mentally and physically. Continuing on this way will have negative consequences on your overall performance and will also erode your health over time. This type of energy is commonplace in many people's lives, so much so that it seems normal. It is a sad testament to our current fast-paced culture that this seems to be the case. But this does not have to be. Here are ten steps to a positive, productive flow state that will support your efforts, making your life easier and more fulfilling.

THE TEN STEPS

1) Start with a good nights sleep, eight hours if possible. Without proper rest, it is difficult to maintain any kind of consistent energy level the next day. Be sure your bedroom is as dark as possible. Any light will interfere with your sleep cycle by suppressing the production of melatonin, a hormone released at the end of the day that signals your body that it's time for sleep. Avoid a heavy meal at the end of the day, the process of digestion forces your body to stay active, not allowing it to settle into a good sleep pattern. Likewise, avoid caffeine or alcohol close to bedtime.

Men and women over 50 should let go of any worries and frustrations they may have. It may be helpful to come up with an affirmation you can say to yourself as you settle in each night. Something to the effect of: "This day is finished. I release any worries or concerns to my higher power and I am allowing myself to relax into a peaceful, healing sleep".

2) When you first wake up in the morning, train yourself to think about what you will be looking forward to for the day, not what you are dreading.Focus on thoughts of gratitude for all the good things in your life, feel the warmth of this emotion glowing inside you. Give your day a positive purpose from the start.

3) Allow yourself a few minutes before rising to slowly and gently arch your back, stretch your arms and legs and turn your head from side to side. When you get up, leave your arms loose at your sides and shake them. Do the same with each leg, first one than the other. If you are up to it, drop down and do a few pushups, stand up and do a few kneebends or forward lunges. Then take three to four slow, relaxing breaths. Imagine breathing in energy that instantly courses throughout your entire body, invigorating and strengthening every cell. As you exhale slowly, breathe out all tension, fatigue and negative feelings. Any activity for just a few minutes first thing in the morning triggers your brain to produce signals to release tension and to begin the process of increasing your overall alertness. Try it, it's amazing how little it takes to jump start your day with these simple movements.

4) Do not skip breakfast, no matter what. It does not have to be anything elaborate, but starting each day with a low-fat, high fiber breakfast is critical to continuing to develop the calm energy to carry you through the day. A toasted multi-grain bagel with low-fat cream cheese can provide a quick tasty meal, for example. Another easy to prepare breakfast is muesli. Before you go to bed, put 1/2 cup of old fashioned oats into a bowl and add just enough water to cover them.Cover the bowl and put it in the refrigerator overnight. The next morning, add 1/2 cup of your favorite low fat yogurt and one to two teaspoons of brown sugar or honey. Top it off with pieces of apple, banana or any other fruit that strikes your fancy. This is a delicious, satisfying breakfast that has everything you need to start your day off right.

5) Eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day. This way you will be keeping your body's energy furnace stoked without overwhelming it with fewer, larger meals that will leave you sluggish. Be sure to include a mix of carbohydrates, protein and healthy fats such as those found in fish and nuts. This combination will provide the fuel, maintain your energy and will leave you feeling satisfied. Also be sure to keep yourself well hydrated through the day by drinking plenty of water.

6) Focus for a few moments on your normal breathing pattern. You'll notice that while you aren't in an active state, your breathing may be quite shallow. Throughout the day take a couple of minutes to do some concentrated belly breathing to take more oxygen into your system. By doing this you will be assisting the oxidation level of your metabolism. First, sit up straight and face straight ahead. Take a slow, deep breath through your nose, expanding your abdomen first rather than you chest, but don't force it. Exhale slowly and evenly, try to take twice as long breathing out as breathing in. Again, don't force it. Repeat this sequence four times.

7) You can change your energy level instantly by ACTING energetic. Quicken your breathing pattern slightly, move more quickly and speak at a faster pace as if you're really excited about something. Your body will respond with a noticeable surge of energy. Try this, you may be surprised at how well this works. Emotion is indeed directly influenced by motion.

8) Beware of the energy vampires when you are a man or woman over 50! These are the people around you that siphon off your energy in several ways. Non-stop talking, continuous complaining and whining, asking an endless series of questions, incessant bragging to gain approval are just a few ways this can happen. Except for young children you may be raising, you are not responsible for anyone's life or feelings but your own. When you can fully accept this and apply it in your life, you will find it much easier to politely end the conversation or walk away from the circumstance that would otherwise sap your energy.

9) Get into a regular exercise program. Go for a walk,develop a stretching routine, get a cardio exercise DVD suitable for your fitness level and follow along with it. Any exercise is better than none at all. Try for at least 20 minutes of activity three times a week to start.

10) Find ways to serve others and express thanks for all that you have during the day. By openly showing gratitude, you will attract more things into your life that will reinforce this feeling further. Likewise, by being of service to others you will give your self esteem and level of happiness a big boost. Either do a Google search for "volunteer" or contact your local church, school or nursing home for opportunities to serve. By taking action to be of service, you will find that good things will come into your life in unexpected ways almost as if by magic. If you continue on this path, your energy level will take on a life of its own and by supporting it with the previous suggestions, any lack of energy for you will be a thing of the past!

6 Ways Men And Women Over 50 Can Keep Fit Without Really Trying

Whether you are old or young, skinny or fat, everyone could improve their health with doing some form of exercise; obviously depending on a person’s age, weight, and current state of health, there may be severe limitations on how much and how often a person should exercise and it is advisable to talk to your Doctor before considering any type of exercise. Some people can only manage a small amount of exercise and consequently they are in a vicious circle of putting on weight fast but because of the large amount of excess weight they carry they can do very little exercise and hence put on more weight.

So given that it is a good idea to get at least some form of exercise but it can be difficult to get the get-up-and-go to push yourself to join a gymnasium, what can we do to keep ourselves reasonably fit? Well, here are a few possibilities that should at least help a bit and most of them add some fun to your life:

• If you are working in a shop then you may well have a certain amount of shelf filling to do, even if it is just the odd time of bending down or reaching up, so use these times as part of your exercise routine. Accentuate your movements and maybe keep plastic bags below the counter so that you have to bend down and get a bag for every customer; in several hours of till work, you could well get quite a bit of exercise that you wouldn’t otherwise get.

• If it works in with your lifestyle then consider getting a dog. Nearly all dogs love to go out for walks and they will push you very hard to take them for a walk in the morning and evening. Thus you could very easily end up walking several miles every day which is perfect for your health and metabolism and you’ll get a huge amount of love in return; it might also help you meet new friends. However a dog needs a lifetime of commitment.

• There’s nothing like a bit of DIY around the house to exercise muscles you never even knew you had and you’ll feel less depressed when you see what you’ve achieved. To avoid injury, make sure to apply good bending and lifting techniques such as keeping a straight back whilst lifting.

• Doing housework can burn off a lot of calories and you end up with a sparkling organized home and a sense of achievement.

• If you live reasonably close to your work, you could walk to work on nice days but make sure that you are safe and ensure that the route you take is not through a remote park or wasteland.

• If you’ve got a nice picnic area that you can drive or walk to, go for a walk around the picnic area and, as well as a picnic basket loaded with a few nice goodies, take a plastic tub with a lid with you and maybe pick a few wild blackberries – when you get home you could make some blackberry jam or have them with some fresh yogurt on.

One last note to men and women over 50. With all these forms of exercise, make sure you don’t over-stretch yourself and try to incorporate other good habits whilst you are doing the exercise – e.g. don’t smoke at the same time as doing any form of exercise.
